23 Things Activity Part 4 (YouTube and video sites)
What can you say about YouTube that hasn't already been said? It's a huge storage place where people can post their own videos, favorite movies, scenes from movies, etc. Tt's also about convenience--there are literally thousands of movies and TV shows available on YouTube. But, as I alluded to in the previous post, it is also a place where a library or archive can post how-to videos on "how to use the library databases", "how to cite a reference source", etc. Here, the videos can reach a tremendous amount of people. It is also a place where people can occasionally "get their break", such as that which happened to teen sensation Justin Bieber. His mother posted a video of him singing at home and the right person saw it. Another reason why this and other video posting sites are so popular is because it involves sharing, which is reinforced by people, if they have signed up, can comment on the videos they have seen. Google, which owns YoutTube, has its own video sharing site, Google Video, which functions like its sister site, except that I think it has fewer videos to select from. Many hours can be spent exploring YouTube, and it's fun!
